Tutorial - Stacked Triple Easel Card

Stacked triple easel cards are created from three individual easel cards secured one on top of the other creating a cascade effect.  Although most of the examples I've seen use three cards that are proportionately bigger than the one before, there's really no reason you couldn't create one using three of the same sized card.

1.  Start by cutting out three card bases of different sizes for your easel cards.  I used nesting dies but you can simply create squares or rectangles if you prefer.  You will also need an additional single piece in the same size and shape as each card.  (If you've never made an easel card before, please have a look at these instructions first.)

2.  Fold the front of each card in half, pressing firmly on the crease to get a nice crisp line.

3.  Stamp and colour the three card pieces as desired.  These will form the front panels for each easel card.  I used a beautiful Flourishes sunflower stamp set and coloured the images with Prismacolor pencils.

4.  Apply adhesive to the bottom section of the folded card front as shown in the photo below.  Secure the decorated piece to the adhesive to form an easel card.  Do this for each of the three cards.

5.  Open out the largest card and place it flat on your desk.  The medium card is going to be secured inside the large card with some double sided tape.  Make sure you measure and mark the placement before adding adhesive.

6.  Secure the middle sized card to the inside of the large card.  I used a centring ruler to line up my cards neatly.  I opted to place the middle sized card about half way down the large card.  The middle sized card will now act as the anchor point to hold the large card open.

7.  Repeat the process with the small card.

8.  Now you will need to add a dimensional embellishment of some kind to the inside of the smallest card so it has an anchor point to hold it open.  As you can see, I stamped some more of the little ladybugs and adhered them with foam tape.

9.  You can now fold your card up, ready for posting!

Scrap Card #25

I've kept this card pretty basic, with a simple stamped Christmas tree decorated with spots of liquid pearls and a tiny sentiment using alphabet stickers.

Gift Bag

Anesha Marshall, one of my wonderful designers, is very talented when it comes to creating off the page projects.  She has made bags, cushions, hangings and of course, greeting cards, using digital images that she has printed at home.  Today I want to share her latest creation, a fabulous gift bag featuring Finn and Molly.

Scrap Card #24

So far I've used all my scrap pieces as backgrounds for the cards I've created, but today I decided to try something a little different and cut a shape instead.  Just as I was about to throw the excess in the bin, I realised I was defeating the purpose of using up the scraps... I was trying to prevent waste, not create it!  Fortunately I was able to save the negative and use it to create another card.

New Release: Simply Christmas

This set is nice and simple, with clean lines and basic text.  I think it's perfect for creating clean and simple cards or for fussing cutting and paper piecing.  As you can see from the cards below, my designers came up with lots of brilliant ways to use these simple little designs.

Anesha created these three beautiful cards using most of the little images in the new set.  She also created her own fabulous background paper for the top two cards!

Christine has used her amazing colour skills to create two gorgeous cards using the cardinal image.  The top card also features the little Christmas tree decorated with dimensional mediums.

This wonderful card was created by Judy, using the plum pudding image and lots of sparkle and glitter!  She has fussy cut the image and mounted it on layers of embossed and patterned papers.

Petra used four of the five images on her fun and fabulous creation.  She coloured each image and fussy cut around the edges before mounting them on little squares of cardstock.  A piece of red and white bakers twine and a cute star clip finished her card perfectly.

Shirley has created two fabulous cards using the cardinal image, the stocking and the Christmas tree, all beautifully coloured and decorated with self-adhesive rhinestones.  She has used a gorgeous piece of sparkly paper to frame the Christmas tree then added a glowing halo around the star.

New Release: Christmas Goose

Oh, the frustration of tangled Christmas lights!  I can certainly relate to how this guy is feeling, no matter how much you try, those lights aren't untangling in a hurry.  Knotted cords are almost a tradition at Christmas time, no matter how carefully you store the decorations.

July New Releases

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful.
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Okay, so it's not quite snowing here in Queensland, but winter has definitely arrived and so has Christmas in July!  This month we'll be celebrating with Christmas themed cards, projects and brand new digital images!
